Yehuda Halevy 6. Living history.
In 1920, construction began on two impressive buildings north of Jaffa, the cradle of Tel Aviv. Renowned Jerusalem architects Eliezer Yellin and Wilhelm Hecker were in charge of designing the two structures, whose distinctive design was inspired by classical European architecture. Featuring balconies and an elegant faÁade, they were constructed by Yosef Kordiansky, a central figure and resident of the small and developing city. In 1942, the buildings housed the city police station, and later the labour court. Their radiance was never dulled by the passage of time, the zone’s expansion or the numerous buildings constructed in the street and its vicinity.
